SNORING

Snoring deserves context before treatment.

Persistent snoring may be simple snoring, but it can also occur with obstructive sleep apnea. Screening should come before appliance treatment.

How we assess

Treatment pathway

YOUR CARE PATHWAY

Diagnosis determines the treatment pathway.

Screening is followed by appropriate sleep evaluation, treatment selection and review. Oral appliance therapy is one option for selected patients, not a universal substitute for other sleep-apnea treatments.

1ScreeningSnoring, witnessed pauses, daytime symptoms and medical history
2Sleep EvaluationConfirm the sleep-breathing diagnosis and severity when indicated
3Treatment ChoiceCPAP, oral appliance or another pathway according to diagnosis
4Dental DeliveryCustom fitting and titration when an oral appliance is selected

CLINICAL GUARDRAILS

Oral appliances are not a substitute for diagnosing sleep apnea.

Dental sleep care should sit within a proper sleep-care pathway. Treatment selection depends on the diagnosis, clinical suitability, patient preference and follow-up.

SnoringPersistent snoring should be assessed in context rather than treated automatically as a dental problem.
Sleep apneaWitnessed breathing pauses, gasping or marked daytime symptoms warrant proper sleep evaluation.
CPAPCPAP remains an important treatment option; intolerance should lead to reassessment rather than abandonment of care.
Jaw / airway treatmentSkeletal procedures are reserved for selected cases after multidisciplinary assessment.
Snoring plus daytime fatigue or witnessed breathing pauses deserves proper sleep evaluation. TALK TO OUR TEAM →
